Toward the realization of more secure and safer intelligent cars, we are
engaged in the development of advanced road transportation system ITS (Intelligent
Transport Systems). Among the nine fields that comprise ITS, we are working
on three fields - "advances in navigation systems," "assistance
for safe driving," and "increasing efficiency of commercial vehicle
operation."
Using advanced communication and information processing technology, we
have developed systems for assisting safe driving for the next generation.
Thus, we offer new added value - "intelligent cars." |

Millimeter-wave rader, which uses rader technology and a millimeter-wave
device as advanced technology, is one of the important factors for safe
driving
assistance systems. This rader can precisely measure ranges, relative speeds
and directions of the vehicles ahead. It realizes safe, secure and comfortable
easy driving by applying vehicle control such as maintaining appropriate
distance between the cars and operating brake for alleviating collision
damage. The possibility of a next-generation cruising system will be promoted
further. |

As a step toward the dream of automatic driving, we are conducting research
and development into this safety technology. In the system, a
car-equipped camera recognizes details of surrounding information on the
road that the driver sees visually, and
accurately determines the driving environment that changes constantly. |

This system automatically sends taxi location information from GPS to a
central control station through digital radio. When a central control station
receives a dispatch request call from a customer, the system automatically
searches for the nearest taxi from the customer with CTI (Computer Telephony
Integration) function and transmits the dispatching data to the selected
taxi.
Since this automatic dispatching system will allow smooth and speedy service
managemet, efficiency of the operation and customer service can be effectively
improved, and the burden of drivers can be greatly reduced. |
